1 Prepare safe work
Photograph the object, check stability and value, and first test the process in a hidden spot. Work with ventilation, gloves, and eye and respiratory protection.
⚠ Warning: Old finishes may contain lead, and a valuable antique can lose value through improper cleaning. Have an unknown finish and serious structural damage assessed by a restorer first.
2 Determine the condition and cause
Check whether the existing finish is compatible with wax. Clean the surface and dry it completely before testing.

3 Carry out the key check
Apply a very thin coat with a soft cloth in the direction of the grain. A thick coat stays sticky and collects dust.

4 Do the repair or maintenance
Wait the time stated on the product and polish with a clean cloth. Apply an additional coat only when the first one is no longer soft.
? Tip: Photograph the starting condition and change only one thing at a time. That makes it easier to tell what really solved the problem.
5 Test the result
Let the wax, coating, or finish dry fully according to the manufacturer, then gradually load the item and inspect the joints in good light.
