⚠ Safety note: This guide involves working with electricity. If you're not completely sure about every step, stop and call a licensed professional. Before you start, always switch off the power at the breaker or close the main water/gas valve.
1 Prepare safe work
Unplug the machine, disconnect the power cord, and remove the battery if it’s user-replaceable. Save data when possible and don’t open power supplies, screens, or capacitor assemblies.
⚠ Warning: Don’t run the pump for long without water and don’t open the machine while it’s hot or under pressure.
2 Determine problem pattern
Check that the water tank is fully seated, the valve at the bottom is free, and there’s no air lock after draining.
3 Check most common cause
Run the first-fill or hot-water process according to the manual, without coffee, and listen to see if the pump works.
4 Apply appropriate solution
Clean limescale with an approved descaler only if water is flowing partially; complete pump dryness or leaking needs service.
? Tip: Take a photo of the initial condition and change only one thing at a time so you know which check actually made a difference.
5 Test result and set boundary
Put parts back and test with only one change at a time. Record indicator lights, sounds, and error messages; overheating, smoke, odor, or a swollen battery requires immediate shutdown.
When to call a professional: If the job involves changes to the electrical panel, the main gas line, or load-bearing walls/beams — or if you're not sure how it will turn out — this is not a DIY task. Hire a licensed professional.
