1 Prepare for safe work
Empty and protect the work area, check the substrate and utilities, and use goggles, gloves, and respiratory protection. Mix the material according to the technical data sheet.
⚠ Warning: Do not treat load-bearing elements, large cracks, moisture from the structure, and materials that may contain asbestos without a professional assessment.
2 Determine the condition and the cause
Determine whether air enters between the sash and the frame or between the frame and the wall. Draft, moisture, and cracks require a different approach.
3 Perform the key check
Remove decayed putty and loose foam without damaging the tapes and the frame. Clean and dry the joint, and place a backing rod where it is deep.
4 Perform the repair or maintenance
Use a vapor-permeable and weather-resistant solution on the outside, and an airtight solution on the inside that is compatible with the existing system.
? Tip: Photograph the initial state and change only one thing at a time. This will make it easier to determine what really solved the problem.
5 Test the result
After the prescribed drying time, check the flatness, strength, and edges. Do not load or cover the surface with a top coat until the moisture and bonding are within allowable limits.
